Wow, is it possible that this is the 7th birthday we've watched go by without you being here? Let me tell you, this birthday doesn't get easier each year it rolls around. We are constantly telling Anniston and Treyson stories about you--of course they're mostly funny, and we can't wait to share even more with them as they get older ;)---Hoffbrau, Grubs, Las Vegas, and the list goes on and on and on!
We sang Happy Birthday to you this evening. We said a very special birthday prayer for you too. The kids tell us a lot that they've already met you. Their way of comprehending a mommy getting a baby is that God sends them down from heaven if you pray for them. They both are convinced that they met you in heaven before God decided it was time for Jerry and I to have them. I refuse to ever tell them otherwise....(well, ok--maybe when they're thinking they want to date!)
Anniston woke up with two new freckles on her 1/2 birthday this year. She quickly looked at them in the mirror and said, "Well, one of them must be from Aunt Leah, and the other is from PePaPa (Amy's grandfather)". Freckles are angel kisses, and she just knows that two of the angels who love her the most are you two!
You know, your last words you ever spoke to me were "Just wait, this will be you in a year". Those words were said to me as I was walking out of the hospital for what I would have never known would be the last time I saw you conscious. You kept joking to me that I was next (having a baby). I kept adamantly refusing that Jerry and I would be waiting two more years. Jerry and I know without a doubt that you totally talked God into surprising us with the sweetest most precious angel Anniston Leah (6 days shy of 1 year later). Thank you.
"just wait, this will be you in a year"........I will never, ever forget those words.........
We love you so much that it makes us cry in a really ugly way--you know, splotchy red face and snot? Yep, that one. But I do know without a doubt that you are watching over us with a smile on your face, holding sweet baby Teddy--and that helps us smile and keep going forward.
Happy Birthday Leah!
